Welcome to CS Week!

Rod Litke
CEO
CS Week

My name is Rod Litke, and I’ve been associated with CS Week and its annual Conference for over three decades. A couple years ago, I became its CEO, so I’m especially proud to welcome you and show you around our website. In the other side of my life, I’m a rancher in north central Texas. Yes, I wear Wranglers and cowboy boots, and my mustache is better looking than Sam Elliott’s.

The premier customer service conference serving North American utilities, CS Week has partnered with the American Gas Association and Edison Electric Institute since 2015. This collaboration and our own 40+ year reputation attract all types of utility attendees and industry partners, small to large, by providing trendsetting and tried-and-true educational content and easy networking. Most serve consumers and clients in the U.S. and Canada, but we have a growing number from around the world. Yesterday, today and tomorrow, CS Week will continue to be your comprehensive, affordable, solutions-oriented destination for utility customer service/supporting IT education.

CS Week uses the Customer Experience Lifecycle as its planning and content framework. This year’s theme, “Focus on Phoenix” will be integrated into all nine venues. Our 2019 Plan Your Week illustrates how CS Week’s venues are scheduled to fit together. While Registration starts Sunday, our meetings, discussions, presentations, receptions and activities launch the next morning when five venues begin on Monday: Executive Summit, Key Account Forum, ENGAGE311, Colleges and vendor-solution Synergy Groups. On Tuesday, Summit, Forum and 311 continue, and we offer business process-focused Synergy Groups. That same afternoon, Conference kicks off with Attendee Orientation and the Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception. On Wednesday and Thursday, Conference plays out with General Sessions, Keynotes, Workshops, Expanding Excellence Awards (which include Individual Achievement Awards starting with Conference 43), the Women in Utilities Sunrise Event…and ample Exhibit Hall time. Finally, on Friday morning, after what will surely be a great Thursday evening Third Street Special, we meet for final General Session, Workshops and our signature car giveaway. Whew! It’s exhilarating, exhausting and very exciting. Our planning committees and panels strive to make every venue enriching and casual enough for laid-back networking.

So, as you plan to attend CS Week 2019, I encourage you to:
  • Start with a College on Monday. These day-long courses in leadership, change management and best practices in project implementation are presented by industry professionals and offer CPE credit. Monday’s alternative to College? Attend a vendor’s Synergy Group.
  • Engage in Tuesday’s Synergy Groups where utilities and their industry partners present solutions and spark discussions around the Customer Experience Lifecycle plus three specialty groups: Customer Assistance (formerly called Low Income), Outage Communications and Utilities United Against Scams.

Some CS Week venues target specific attendees as by-invitation-only events or they may focus singular attention on utility professionals. I invite you to review information online about CS Week’s Executive Summit, Key Account Forum, Research, LeadNext and Publishing. Venue managers identified on those website pages would be happy to answer your email or phone questions.

CS Week 311 continues to grow every year, so in 2017 we transitioned it to be a stand-alone conference that shares the same week and city location as CS Week. Municipal and utility customer service center professionals attend ENGAGE311, a 3-day boutique conference that offers its own exhibit hall – EXPO311! This welcoming and open group of professionals are eager to share successes and challenges and to discuss industry trends, new products and services. Some find an opportunity to stay for Conference too.

Besides its annual Conference, CS Week offers year-long education through five webinar series: 311, WebEd, Marketplace, Success Stories and Women in Utilities. I also urge you to watch Attendee Perspectives, Vendor Perspectives, Executive Perspectives and Conference Highlights to see why over 2,000 utility attendees and industry professionals make CS Week THEIR annual go-to conference.
