Welcomes All Utility Women Attending CS Week
Networking at its best takes many forms at CS Week, and so it is with Women in Utilities. A cocktail reception three years ago at Conference 31 was just the second event for the new organization, a collaboration between executive women to develop a more formal venue for women in the utilities industry to network.
“Women have a unique ability to manage complex projects using strong interpersonal skills and savvy approaches to strategy and engagement models,” Lisa Dalesandro, vice president of utilities practice at SAP said last year. “Rapport building is important to women—in and out of the workplace—so it will come as no surprise that they highly value their professional networks.”
All utility women attending CS Week are invited to the third annual Women in Utilities reception Wednesday evening, May 20, 2009, at 6:00 pm in Chesapeake Room 7. The event will build on last year’s enthusiastic attendees who loved the idea of having a women-centric forum for utility professionals to meet their peers, share information and establish a broader framework for communication. The 2008 attendance almost tripled that of the previous year, so 2009 should continue that strong trend.
When describing NSTAR women’s network group that she cosponsors, Penni McLean-Conner, 2009 CS Week Conference chair and VP of customer care at NSTAR, said, “There is so much vigor and such power and opportunity associated with women’s professional organizations.” She looks forward to Women in Utilities growing and promoting professional women and their achievements in the utilities.
