Deputy General Manager CPS Energy Wednesday, May 21, 2008
As Deputy General Manager for CPS Energy, the municipally-owned electric and gas company serving San Antonio, Steve Bartley has a keen awareness of the changes all utilities are experiencing and will be facing. In addition, his experience working for the Texas Public Utilities Commission (PUC) adds a valuable facet to his message.
Bartley joined CPS Energy in 2000 as Director of Regulatory Relations. He was promoted to Vice President of Governmental and Regulatory Relations, then to Vice President of Strategy and External Relations.
Bartley began his career with the Lower Colorado River Authority, working in accounting, audit, finance and regulatory activities. He joined the Texas Public Utilities Commission in 1980, assuming responsibilities for regulation of utilities in the areas of accounting and finance. Before joining CPS Energy, he held the positions of Vice President of Finance and Business Services and Director of Strategic Marketing with Austin (TX) Energy.
An honors graduate of the University of Texas in Austin with a BBA in accounting, he earned his MBA from Texas State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Bartley currently serves as an alternate member of the ERCOT Board of Directors and has held leadership positions with the Texas Public Power Association and the Texas Society of CPAs.
